What made you Say Yes to Dallas?
My husband, Beenit Patel, grew up in the Dallas Region and researched what Dallas offers. As a high-energy medical professional, I was looking for a town that was progressive professionally and personally. Professionally, Baylor Scott and White provided me opportunities to grow my management skill set in an environment that is high performing and highly energetic. Additionally, I wanted to be highly involved in the Dallas community and have been lucky enough to participate in the Dallas Regional Chamber Young Professionals program. Personally, Dallas provides me all of my social needs from a cultural, event, and restaurant perspective.

How did you choose where to live in the Dallas Region?
We chose to live in Addison as we wanted to be in the central part of Dallas. We have family and friends in the Frisco, Coppell, and Uptown areas allowing us to be minutes to various locations. Additionally, Addison is growing in the areas we enjoy being involved in!

How has your opinion of the Dallas Region changed since moving here?
After relocating to the Dallas Region, I have gained a higher appreciation for Dallas. I am impressed to see the talent that continues to come to this city, and the innovation that develops from the metroplex. I feel lucky to be part of a community that has humble natives, as well as those who want to make in impact in this city of opportunity.

Tell us about your city/neighborhood. What do you like best? What makes it different?
Addison is still one of our favorite cities we’ve lived in. We’ve lived in Uptown, as well. Addison is special because of how many new restaurants, friendly faces, and how close shopping is from our beautiful town home. My husband and I have been impressed to see the number of restaurants that pop up, whether it’s farm to table or nationally/internationally renowned.

Where do you go and what do you do on the weekends or days off?
On our weekends or days off, Beenit and I enjoy traveling to the Uptown, Downtown, Knox Henderson, Plano, and Frisco area for shopping, food, and fun! Additionally, we’re lucky to be part of a city with many festivals and events occurring.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to move here?
If you’re a young professional looking for a city that you can grow and have high impact in, Dallas is the perfect choice. In the past three years, I have had the privilege to enjoy the rewards Dallas provides, such as going to the various food festivals, trying new restaurants on a weekly basis, and shopping for the latest trends. And, there are many professional organizations you can be a part of that will boost your career, allowing you to create a network of executives looking to mentor you. Last but not least, Dallas has big city rewards with a cost of living that no city can beat.

What is your passion, and how does Dallas help fulfill it?
I have several passions, one being serving the community. Dallas Regional Chamber Young Professionals program has been very rewarding as I have networked with some of the brightest professionals in the metroplex. Through the network, I was provided an opportunity to serve as a board member for YMCA and provide pro-bono consulting for non-profits.

What would you miss most about the area if you had to leave?
I would miss the accessibility to network, eating great food, and enjoying events with an amazing group of friends and family.

Tell us about the work environment here.
Dallas is a great city with new construction and is extremely clean. My commute is around 30 minutes, which is fantastic compared to all of the other cities I’ve lived in. The weather is nearly perfect which allows ideal conditions for commuting to and from work.

On our weekends or days off, Beenit and I enjoy traveling to the Uptown Dallas, Knox Henderson, Plano, and Frisco areas for shopping, food, and fun!  Additionally, we’re lucky to be part of a city with many festivals and events occurring.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood are Neighborhood Services, Best Thai, and La Ventana

What is your favorite outdoor activity, and where is your favorite place to do it?
Barbecues at our friends’ houses.

What is your favorite festival/event?
Oktoberfest

Where do you go to experience culture? Why do you like it?
Deep Ellum, because there is a casual and diverse culture of food and music.

Where do you like to shop? Why?
NorthPark Center; the mall is full of great designer stores and events creating a unique shopping experience.

Who is your local hero? Why?
Joel Allison, former BSWH CEO, because I work for the best healthcare system, Baylor Scott and White Health!

Where do you feel you are nearest to your “tribe” in the Dallas Region?
West Village Area; it’s very close to our home, offers food by great chefs, and beautiful outdoor seating..

How do you interact with your community?
I’m part of Dallas Regional Chamber Young Professionals (YP) program that I am passionate about and enjoy! I’m part of the LEAD YP program and a member of the Service Committee where I serve on the “Get on Board Program” and Social Entrepreneurship Team. Any young professional who wants to make an impact on the community is the right candidate for this organization. Additionally, I’m on the Dallas based Bollywood Modern Dance Team. We’re a team of dancers who perform contemporary Bollywood dances for non-profit events, weddings, sporting, and other Dallas events.

Do you travel often? Is it easier or harder to do here?
We travel often, whether we travel locally utilizing Uber or nationally/internationally using one of our two airports. We really enjoy traveling to see our family in California, Washington D.C. Internationally, I feel that Dallas offers great deals!
