Distinguishing Characteristics: Carroll ISD is a three-time University Interscholastic League 5A Lone Star Cup Champion for academic, athletics, and fine arts achievements; the district boasts five National Blue Ribbon Schools, 14 National Merit Semifinalists, 14 National Hispanic Scholars, and 40 Commended Students. Carroll was included among Newsweek’s Top 500 U.S. High Schools; the district has earned three consecutive AP Honor Roll awards as announced by the College Board. Our dropout rate is 0 percent; our graduation rate is 99 percent; and the rate for college-bound seniors is 97 percent.

Specializations and Program Offerings: The Carroll Jazz Orchestra was named Essentially Ellington Finalists three times in the last several years; CISD has a STEM Program and a Carroll Medical Academy, preparing students for post-high school careers. The district offers specialized service to students with special needs, as well honors and advanced courses for the Gifted and Talented student population.

Extracurricular: More than 84 percent of our students participate in extracurricular and co-curricular programs. CISD students excel in athletics and fine arts, along with debate, forensics, Odyssey of the Mind, and other academic programs.

Safety and Security: CISD has a comprehensive safety program that includes school resource officers at every K-12 campus. Operation #safedragon is a multifaceted crisis communications plan that promotes safety and security for students and staff, while connecting Dragon families with current and school communications.

M&O/I&S Tax Rates and Last Bond Passage: Carroll ISD’s tax rate is $1.40 per $100 assessed valuation; the M&O tax rate makes up $1.04 of that rate, while the I&S rate is $.036. In 2009, voters passed the largest school bond program in district history: a $138 million package.
