Lessons are evaluated on a regular basis, using the Continuous Improvement Model for student success. Students are encouraged to take Advanced Placement classes and to take advantage of the dual- credit program with Hill College. In order to better integrate technology, the Bring Your Own Device program has been implemented in grades 9-12. JISD offers the opportunity for students to prepare for and take the GED, as well as implements a rigorous credit recovery program at the middle and high school levels. JISD provides full-day kindergarten at each campus. Full-time guidance counselors and licensed nurses are available at all campuses. For more information, go to joshuaisd.org.

A comprehensive athletics program, as well as numerous clubs and organizations, are available for students. The district also has an extensive secondary and elementary UIL Literary Program. Joshua High School has the distinction of being UIL Academic District Champions for six out of the past eight years.

Safety and Security: JISD works closely with first responders from Joshua, Burleson, and Johnson counties. First responders use JISD facilities to train for emergency situations, as well as helping with independent safety audits. The JISD emergency operations plan is shared with local municipalities, and city/county officers are invited to attend annual training updates for the district’s Rapid Responder Program.

School resource officers are assigned to each campus, along with an additional security officer at Joshua High School. The safety/security systems at schools allow the use of cameras to capture images at all times in commons areas, parking lots, and building entrances to provide a deterrent to poor behavior and a tool for resolving issues for campus administrators. Controlled access and advanced visitor registration systems are additional safety features at schools. Safety drills, covering a variety of emergencies, are conducted at each campus throughout the school year to ensure preparedness.
